How to avoid the killing zone damage

Drive away from the killing zone or do not be there in the first place or create security perimeter that counter the weapon distance

Attackers need kill zones (if you miss the article why see here). In-order to succeed the defender should create several alternatives in his plan. Basically the more options the defender have to choose from the attacker will find it difficult or even impossible to adapt.

​

Easy to say then do since planning a mission maybe so big and full of options that it would not be easy to use eventually and work up on it. Therefore the defender need to map his routine and make a plan to all the predictable part of the plan assuming the attacker knows all what we know.

How to create a Security break routine plan

First we need to conduct risk assessment that evaluate the risk from the attacker point of view what do I mean ? beside interviewing the VIP, Security Staff about their greatest fears also to conduct a deep routine mapping survey meaning : to follow daily routine of the VIP from the moment he and his family wake up to the time the finish the day.

This routine mapping will be in many ways the mapping process for where the attacker should be physically or install cameras or inside info in-order to understand all of that - later this attacker point of view and potential positions will be the base line for your security plan - meaning: who, where, when and how we protecting the VIP, family and other assets.

In other words coming from the survey of mapping the VIP and family movements. we are basically would do exactly what the attacker should do - now you understand that to do security from the attacker point of view is much much more effective to stop an attacker ;)

After we have the routine for the VIP, Family and assets in the predictable locations such as office, resident, gym the favorite coffee place ... we are moving to how the risk meet the reality - what the attacker can really do here if he had the opportunity.

So first we need to decide what likely to happen by priority meaning risk assessment.

Back in the day, I remember that the likely to happen may be a very scary long list of options - I want to encourage you to keep it simple and focus on the big make sense stuff - a jet engine airliner airplane is not likely to crash on your VIP although it happen on September 11 / 2001

Once you got the list of likely options now its time to do the security plan meaning : what, when, where and how to arrange the resources people, hardware and software and make sure its working meaning testing it.

Incident  Overview

In this recent event (7/8/22) the attacker armed with improvised weapon got too close to the VIP the former prime minister of Japan - his bodyguards should read this article about the kill zone it could save their VIP.

You simply can't the attacker to used concealed weapon in it's effective range that it - no body can stop the bullets and nobody run faster then a bullet. The only way to prevent it - it's either not to be there or applying an effective security perimeter to counter the close range shooter at this incident.
